Ever Increasing Glorious Splendor

Dear Precious Ones,

God is a good God who loves us and is always ready to lavish His love upon us as we draw close the Him. In these troubled times, it is essential that we keep our focus on the Lord. Don’t live as a reaction to darkness, rather live in response to light.

In Hebrews 12:26b-28 we are told that those things that can be shaken will be shaken. Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear.

The good news is that we are part of a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Yet, because we are living in this world, we see and sometimes even feel the vibrations of the shaking, we can easily get distracted by the storms and allow fear to enter. Fear is our greatest enemy. II Timothy 1:7 tells us God has not given us a spirit of fear, so we know that fear comes from the enemy, so quickly get rid of it when it tries to distract you.

Isaiah 60:1-3 tells us, Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen on you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but the Lord shall rise on you, and His glory shall be seen on you.  And the nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawning.

When we’re walking in the glory of God’s Spirit, we recognize this EVER INCREASING GLORIOUS SPLENDOR of God’s presence with us. On the other hand, when we watch world news, the gross darkness spoken of in these scriptures is quite evident.

Instead of putting our attention on the darkness, we should get excited about our actual part in all of this, which is over on the glory side of things. Hallelujah! Let’s pray for more of the glory that comes with being full of the Holy Spirit and fire. This turns us on with the light of the Gospel and pushes back the darkness. The only way to dispel the darkness is to continue to turn on the light that men might find their way.

The Word teaches that we can move from a place of trouble to a place of victory by praising God in the midst of the battle.

Romans 5:3-5 The Message There’s more to come: We continue to shout our praise even when we’re hemmed in with troubles, because we know how troubles can develop passionate patience in us, and how that patience in turn forges the tempered steel of virtue, keeping us alert for whatever God will do next. In alert expectancy such as this, we’re never left feeling shortchanged. Quite the contrary—we can’t round up enough containers to hold everything God generously pours into our lives through the Holy Spirit!

In times past when ships sailed across the ocean, a storm could sink the ship or send it forward more rapidly, depending on how they set the sails. When we praise the Lord, it enables us to pass through the storms on to a place of victory.

Don’t let what the devil is doing get bigger in your awareness than your awareness of God’s presence in your life.

Keep your eyes on Jesus,

Barbara

Fiesta Patrias

We were blessed to attend Jose and Marylu De la Torre’s annual Fiesta Patrias at their church property in Agua Prieta. They have five nights of fiesta where there is constant Christian entertainment, a big variety of awesome Mexico food, and special game booths for the children. Hundreds of people attend. It provides an opportunity for people to celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day in a wholesome family atmosphere that honors God.

Christmas 2017

As of October 1st, we have almost reached our goal of Christmas prep money for 12,000 Christmas gifts. This is the first time in 30 years we’ve reached the goal this early. Hallelujah! It is such a blessing!

Christmas Prep 2017

We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the Lord, about His power and His mighty wonders.

Psalms 78:4 NLT

Our last mission trip team prepared hundreds of Christmas gift bags.

Mark and Victoria Bowling

In Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, USA:

Mark and Victoria Bowling

Mark and Victoria Bowling are an amazing couple, preaching the Gospel to thousands around the world.

Mark was a Rhema student when he first traveled to Mexico with us in the early 1990’s. He later married Victoria. After they graduated from Rhema in 1993, they moved to Cumpas, Sonora with their new baby Nicolas. They came with almost no support and learned to trust God for every need (diaper by diaper). It was a challenging time to grow in faith. Mark taught in the Bible School and preached in churches in that region.

While they were living there, the Lord spoke to Calvin. “Mark is a great man of God and is going to do great things in My Kingdom.”

During the two-year assignment in Cumpas, the Bowling’s had numerous learning experiences as they passed from culture shock to cultural assimilation. One little story that comes to mind, starts during their evening dinner.

They realized that their car was nearly empty of gas and that would become a challenge the next morning for their upcoming journey. The closest gas station was in Moctezuma 17 miles away, and they knew the station would be closing within a few minutes. So they left the dishes on the table, gathered up Nicolas and rushed to Moctezuma only to arrive right after the station had closed. Now, the challenge grows as they knew there was not enough gas in the car to return home. At that time they had no acquaintances in Moctezuma - out of gas, out of diapers, and insufficient funds to secure lodging.

But not to worry, faith moves mountains, right? As it would happen, a nice man across the street heard of their dilemma and took them in. Long story made short, they were welcomed by the family, little sister ran to neighbors for diapers, and the whole of two families slept in a tiny bedroom on narrow beds, and Mark and Victoria learned a great lesson about true Mexican hospitality.

Mark and Victoria are the founders of Global Impact Ministries International. Since 2001, they have seen more than 320,000 people call on the name of Jesus for salvation. Thousands have been baptized in the Holy Spirit. Multitudes have been healed by the power of God. To date over 11,000 churches have been planted in seven nations as a result of festivals and conferences.

It is a privilege to know Mark and Victoria. FMI has supported them for many years. They are excellent ground to sow into. Please visit them at their website www.GlobalImpactMinistries.org.

Irma and Manuel

In Villa Hidalgo, Sonora, Mexico:

Manuel and Irma Martinez

Manuel and Irma Martinez were attending Ed Shaddai Bible Training Institute in Navojoa, Sonora when we first met them in 2004.

They are the parents of Alberto Ruelas of Cumpas and Olga Suja from Tepache, whom we featured in last month’s newsletter.

Going back in time to 1998 Faith Ministries purchased a house in Villa Hidalgo, Sonora to use as a mission station and started doing VBS’s and Christmas programs there. We had occasional services in the house but needed full-time pastors to live and work there.

In 2005 Manuel and Irma Martinez moved to our mission station in Villa Hidalgo. They enclosed the open patio on the side of the house and begin having regular services there. They also minister to the people of San Juan del Rio, a 45-minute drive north of Villa Hidalgo.

A few years ago Bob took a work team to build a welding shop for Pastor Manuel and took him a welder and other tools that go with welding.

Baptism services are held in the beautiful Bavispe River that flows through Villa Hidalgo.

Through many battles, Manuel and Irma have remained faithful to the call of God. They are excellent to minister to people in their homes and have brought many people to the Lord. They are full of the spirit and the Word. It is a blessing to have them in our faith family.

In April 2016 Faith Ministries donated the Villa Hidalgo Mission Station to Manuel and Irma for their church Iglesia El Remanente de Israel.
