God's Economic System
by Calvin and Barbara Scott
Genesis 8:22 declares, While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
There will always be harvest time for those who sow seed. God’s economics are not dependant on what is going on in the world. The key to prosperity in times of famine is hearing and obeying God. The following story about Isaac is a good example.
Genesis 26:1 And there was a famine in the land, … verse 2 And The Lord appeared to him and said, Do not go down into Egypt. Live in the land which I shall tell you of. Verse 3 Reside in this land, and I will be with you and bless you… verse 12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and received in the same year a hundredfold. And the Lord blessed him. Verse 13 And the man became great. And he went forward and grew until he grew very great. Verse 14 And he had possession of flocks and possession of herds, and many servants…
Isaac would not have prospered, had he not sown. Where and when he sowed according to the instructions of the Lord was the key to his abundant harvest.
Many others in that day would have sown only to have their seed dry up in the ground. Isaac’s story had a happy ending because he was listening to the only stockbroker who never missed a call.
There are always a few who are blessed when the majority are shaken and fearful; such as the widow of II Kings chapter 4 who sowed what she had (according to the word of the Lord by Elisha the prophet) and her little turned into enough to pay her debts and carry her through the famine.
The current world economic crisis should convince us it is time to get into alignment with the Kingdom of God and His economic system. It is not failing. He is not even having a nervous breakdown over the mess that man’s greed, selfishness, and sin has created.
Galatians 6:7 is so relevant to all of this, Do not be deceived, God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also will reap.
Those who sow into a failing system, will reap a failing harvest. If we sow into a system that never fails, we harvest success and prosperity. Therefore, here is what we are to do, find someone winning souls, and partner with them in sowing and reaping according to God’s eternal never-ending investment venture. Praise God for sound financial advice in times like these.
