Under the King's Command

December 2008 Newsletter

Dear Friends,

Isaiah 60 1-3 Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen on you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the peoples; but the Lord shall rise on you, and His glory shall be seen on you.  And the nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawning.

When we’re walking in the glory of God’s Spirit, we recognize this ever increasing, glorious splendor of God’s presence with us. On the other hand, when we watch the World news the gross darkness spoken of in these scriptures is quite evident.

Well meaning people frequently and pleading say things like, oh, we have to pray harder, pray more, against these terrible things. Grant it, there may be times when the Holy Sprit would prompt us to pray such prayers. However, it would seem to me that God said it would happen, therefore it will happen or He would not have given us the prophetic insight. It seems good to me that we should get excited about our actual part in all of this, which is over on the glory side of things. Hallelujah! Let’s pray for more of that!

The only way to stop the encroaching darkness is to turn on the light of the Gospel. Listen again to this great truth: Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen on you…. but the Lord shall rise on you, and His glory shall be seen on you.  And the nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawning.

This is our goal and every assignment of ministry should be pointing us in that direction. The grand finale of this glowing light show on planet earth will be the return of our glorious Savior and King, Jesus the Christ.

His Word declares how He will destroy the darkness with the brightness of His coming. Until that day, we have the next best thing - authority to use His Word and authority to use His name and all this executed by the unlimited power of His own Holy Spirit that resides within us. Oh glory, I’m about to shout!

You can enter a dark room and pray until you are given out, scream at the darkness, curse it, rebuke it, and use every charismatic formula you have learned, but it will still be dark. On the other hand, maybe we should just settle down and start prayerfully making our way around the wall until our hand feels the switch…. Yes, amen, glory to God!

Wow, you have it. Turn on the light by preaching the Word and the light of God’s glory will rise upon you all those within your area of assignment.

Thank you friends and partners for helping us to push back the darkness by the medium of God’s glorious Gospel. Keeps the generator running and we’ll make the sparks.

In His Glory,

Calvin and Barbara

Operación Del Amor - continued

Washed out road in Alamos.Last month we did an article about the torrential rains on September 11 that caused widespread destruction in the area south of Navojoa. Many houses made of adobe simply melted and left  hundreds of people homeless and hungry. Bob and Miki Road to Alamos.bought food, prepared food bags, and took clean up crews in to help some of those in greatest need. Now they are in the process of building two simple houses for a widow woman and a blind woman who lost their homes and will receive no governmental  help.

Since theDebris left behind by flooding. n, on October 11, another hurricane dumped heavy rains on the mountains surrounding Alamos. A 10’ wall of water hit the city at 1:00AM.  There are eight people confirmed dead and as many as 100 still missing.

Our dear friends and co-workers John and Ginger Nash who live in Alamos, just escaped with their lives. They lost everything except the house itself which was left full of mud and debris. Their septic tank and well filled with mud.
