Letting the Light Shine - Christmas 09
New Year's Proclamation
God's Doing a New Thing
Dear Friends,
Well, here we are in the season of Ground Hog Day, with Valentines Day coming on fast, and we’re still talking about New Years and Christmas activities. It usually takes until late January to gather all the team reports.
In the middle of this busy time, our hearts are longing to receive a fresh word from the Lord that will guide and influence us as we move through the seasons that lie beyond us. In the following lines, we will briefly outline portions of our present reception.
By God’s written Word, we hear: Isaiah 43:18-19a Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing... MKJV/ From The Message - Forget about what’s happened; Don’t keep going over old history. Be alert, be present. I’m about to do something brand new…
Daniel 2:21 tells us, He changes the times and the seasons. God moves in seasons. The church is in a transition into a new season.
While God and His Word never change, He often surprises people in the manner that He moves. Be open to change. The Holy Spirit is compared to a river. A river flows. He is also compared to the wind. The wind blows. Both elements tend to seasonally change things.
We believe an awakening from God has begun. It is in its infant stage and we don’t see the effects of it yet, but it is here. Like the Prophet Elijah when he heard the sound of an abundance of rain he went up to the mount to pray, then seeing only a small cloud the size of a man’s hand, he responded in faith.
We believe this is a season to exercise faith for:
Jubilee - freedom from oppression and anxiety.
Harvest of souls and seed sown - money / prayers.
Full storehouse – finances to spread the Gospel.
Healing – physical / mental / relational.
Power - signs / wonders / miracles.
Fresh anointing on the teaching of God’s Word.
The manifestation of God’s glory through His people.
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13-14 MKJV
By God’s Spirit we hear Him reminding us that there will be a definite end to each day we live and we should take stock of our corresponding actions of that day. Then with the assurance that the sun will rise on another day full of opportunity, let’s determine to give ourselves even more to the advancement of God’s Kingdom.
As we say thank you for your continued prayers and gifts, we also say, thank you for being a part of our past, our present, and our future. Working together honors the desire of God for His children.
In His Fields,
Calvin and Barbara

The Christmas programs were a time of joy and laughter in the midst of a time of darkness and violence in Mexico. The greater the darkness, the brighte r the light shines. The good news of the Gospel is the answer to every problem when people embrace it.
We have never felt more appreciation from the people for the Christmas programs than we did this year. One business lady expressed, It is so refreshing to see the people gathered together in such a wonderful, happy atmosphere where everyone is blessed!
In the programs in the Batopilas area, after leading all the people in the salvation prayer, Pastor Luis Maulas talked to the adults about how important it is for them to turn their lives over to God and be good examples to the children, training them to follow God instead of a lifestyle of drug trafficking. By their decision, they can change the direction of the next generation. It was powerful and anointed. You could hear a pin drop as 500 people listened intently.
In the San Jose school, after the program, we had a time of prayer with the teacher and about 10 other adults in one of the classrooms. Calvin told them the story about the first time we were there seven years ago; he found an old tin cup that had been thrown out. He brought it home and uses it in his shop to drink water. Almost every time he uses it, he prays for the Professor (who has taken the children into his heart as his own) and the town. We all joined hands as each one in our team prayed for their town. It was powerful. Lots of the people had tears in the eyes when we finished and the teacher gave Calvin a big bear hug of appreciation.
Pastors Rodrigo and Olga Suja, joined by Pastors Oscar and Griselda Hoyos, and Pastor Alberto Ruelas took the Christmas program for the first time, to San Pedro, a town of about 4,000 people, 2 hours southwest of Tepache on a rough, dirt road. San Pedro doesn’t have any protestant churches. Our team was thrilled with the reception of the people. Valuable contacts were made for continuing to evangelize.
Bob and Miki sent out 17 teams in the Navojoa area covering over 27 communities.
Juan and Maria De la Parra took a team and did programs in the Sonora river valley and also Nacozari and Turicachi, covering 13 communities in all.
In total over 14,000 people were reached by 35 teams in over 100 pueblos. Thank you for helping to make this great outreach possible. Read more about this year's Christmas programs.
Happy New Year
By: Calvin Lee Scott
On this new and happy year
There’s something we must hear.
It comes from God above
Whose thoughts are full of love.
It has to do with you
And how He’ll see you through.
His Word will be your guide
So keep it by your side.
When tricks and traps appear
You’ll be wise to have it near.
The earth again will rock and roll
As judgment takes its toll.
But we have not to fear
Cause His Word is quick and near.
It keeps us safe and sound
And we by that Word, abound.
