Illegal Drug Use - Who's to Blame

Christmas in Batopilas, Chihuahua, Mexico

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Dear Partners,

To everyone we send our sincere desire for your Very Merry Christmas and a Joyous, Happy New Year. With the Holy Christ continually birthing new life in our hearts it should be Christmas every day.

Back to the New Year greeting, truth is, everyone on the planet gets a New Year, yet most will not experience it as happy. The happy in each New Year can only be found by faith in God. Faith in God can only be found in the hearing and reception of His Word.

Hearing His Word can only take place if someone goes forth to proclaim it. Reception of His Word happens when those going forth proclaim it with His love in their hearts.

Among the many ingredients, necessary for local and world evangelism is a thing we call money. It is used by most people in their search for the Merry in Christmas and the Happy in New Year. We here at Faith Ministries encourage its use in the search for souls that will be changed by the power of God and His Word. Your continued faithfulness to support our outreaches show the true spirit of the holidays.  Thank you so much for the blessings you send that we may continue blessing others.

In His Fields,

Calvin and Barbara

Illegal Drug Use - Who's to Blame

The news media has a way of presenting Mexico as the bad guy in the world of illegal drugs. True, in cases like Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua, now considered the most dangerous city on earth, because of the deaths between warring drug syndicates. As they kill one another, sometimes innocents are caught in the crossfire.

As we consider the reason, we must face the fact that this drug trafficking is supported and encouraged by habitual and recreational drug use in the United States. As long as people in the USA are willing to pay exorbitant prices for illegal drugs, there will be those in Mexico willing to put their lives in jeopardy to supply the demand.

So where is the blame?

Our encouragement and support of evangelism of the lost in the US is just as important as evangelism in Mexico.

Christmas in Batopilas, Chihuahua, Mexico

See photo album on Facebook.

The beauty and majesty of this vast wilderness area stimulates our awareness and appreciation of the mightiness of our God.

We joined Pastors Luis and Micaela Maulas and their team from Chihuahua for the Christmas programs in the Batopilas area.

In the spring of this year, Luis and MTo Batopilasiki put the care of the churches in Batopilas and Satévo in the hands of their faithful co-workers there, Felipe and his sister Lupita Barffuson.  Felipe and Lupita have branched out and are now also having services in the Tarahumara community of Yerba Buena.  We had powerful services in the churches in Batopilas and Satévo while we were there. Felipe and Lupita, as well as the congregations were fed and encouraged in the LorFelipe and Lupitad.

We arrived in Batopilas to a much different atmosphere than last year. The mayor was in the plaza and instead of being surrounded by six armed guards, he was surrounded by six teenagers, joking and laughing with them.  The children and young people again played in the plaza, even after dark.

Pastors Luis and Micaela have taken a church in the capital of Chihuahua and are constructing a new church building that will seat 600 people. They are still overseeing the churches in the Batopilas area and have a heart to send out missionaries to many of the towns in Chihuahua that do not yet have Christian churches.

The Christmas programs were awesome. We will share more about them next month when we do our Christmas report. We have never had such a warm welcome in every place as we had this trip, even from the people who aren’t Christians yet. We were met with kisses and bear hugs. In Batopilas, one of the businesswomen thanked us and said it is so wonderful to see the people gathered together in such a wonderful, happy atmosphere where everyone is blessed.

Christmas in Sonora Mexico

There is a great stir of excitement about the upcoming Christmas programs in Sonora.  As we were out delivering Christmas gifts to pastors and their families, and travel money for those who are taking the programs out of their local area, it was a joy to hear about their plans for the upcoming trips.

Praise the Lord; we have had a generous Christmas offering that is meeting the last minute expenses of this great Outreach.
