History Speaks Today
In 1888 Alfred Nobel a Swedish chemist who had made his fortune inventing and selling dynamite, picked up the newspaper to read his deceased brother’s obituary.
The sub-title read; The Merchant of Death is Dead. The newspaper editor had confused the brothers. Alfred continued reading the editor’s assessment of his life, describing how he had gotten rich by helping people kill one another with his promotion of dynamite.
The result of this awful mistake was a resolve by Alfred to establish a foundation with his wealth, to be used in rewarding people who excelled in helping humanity. Thus, we still have today, the world renowned Nobel Prize.
Making sure what we have today goes toward posterity is a powerful thing, encouraging future generations. Your giving to Faith Ministries is of lasting value, from a regular weekly or monthly offering to including Faith Ministries in your will. Your giving keeps on giving.
We believe that the proclamation of the Good News Gospel is helping humanity today and is of eternal value in generations to come.
Here in Faith Ministries we endeavor to have a vision that is contemporary with what God is doing today and compatible and connected to what He will be doing tomorrow.
As we review our ministry history, we see many of our faithful supporters of today started giving ten, fifteen, twenty years ago. They evidently saw our assignment to God’s vision as pertinent for today and vital for tomorrow. Thanks to these abundant hearts willing to invest in our future, we continue to make a difference in our field of service to the Kingdom of God.
Souls are being added to the roll, churches strengthened, and life on earth a little more like heaven to those we reach.
Making history with you,
Calvin and Barbara
Faith Family Reunion
This year was a most precious time of refreshing, fellowship, and anointed minis try. Twenty pastors and missionaries attended. We also had friends from Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Arizona.
The praise and worship took us into God’s presence. Marisol and Ruth Vega from Obregon helped Nina and our worshi p team in the bilingual singing.
The Word of the Lord was rich. We praise God for our guest speakers, Cathy Creek and Gustavo Vega.
Ruben Serrato, Ruth Vega, Ruth Alverde Vega, Gustavo Vega, and Norman Gibson were ordai ned.

Travelin On
F MI trustees and longtime friends, Norman and Jeanne Gibson from Annville, PA attended Faith Family Reunion and then stayed to help us with a trip to Navojoa.
Bob and Miki had a load of furniture and supplies they needed in Navojoa. So we loaded them on the pickup and trailer and then went through Cumpas and picked up all of the toys we had stored there for the Christmas Outreaches in the Navojoa area. They now have 4,000 toys. Praise the Lord. (But alas, we don’t have any left in Cumpas!)
We spent two nights in Cumpas on the way to catch up on work there, took a swamp cooler to the church in Tepache, and visited with Pastors Rodrigo and Olga Suja.
On Sunday, Norman, Calvin and Barbara all ministered in Pastors Gustavo and Ruth’s church, Vision Familiar, in Obregon, Sonora. They have an awesome church filled with young adults in love with Jesus.
In Hermosillo on the way back, we bought a truckload of candy for the Christmas programs in the Cumpas area and food and supplies for mission’s teams coming soon, and took it all back to Cumpas.
A missionary’s job is not always preaching. Sometimes it is lots of driving, work, and preparation for coming events, but we wouldn’t trade our job for any other. It is truly a privilege to work for the Lord!
As we traveled the 1200 miles through the mountains, we were blessed to see everything green and lush by the abundant rains this year. The drought has been terrible the past 9 years and so the rains are a welcome relief. Praise the Lord!
A Truth Nugget
God is the source of our faith,
but He put us in charge of it.
What we do with it pleases Him.
What we don’t do with it displeases Him.
VBS in Bacuachi
We were privileged to hav e the VBS in Bacuachi, Sonora and to have Pastor Alberto Ruelas and his son Betito, from Jecori, Sonora with us. My wife and the kids and I had been longing to have the VBS in Bacuachi for a time now; because this is one of the things we miss doing for the Lord since we pastored in Jecori.
To have Pastor Alberto was especially a treat. He was Moses in our illustrated teachings, and helped organize the games for the children after their classes. Praise the Lord for willing vessels.
In all we had 42 children and young people attend. They all received the Word of God, a stuffed animal, and a bag of candy on the last day. This was to them the icing on the cake.
Moved with compassion we all were during this time we had with the children of Bacuachi, because they are as sheep having no shepherd.
Yes, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few, pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth laborers into His harvest. (Matthew 9:37-38) Believe God with us for a full time pastor of Bacuachi, and yes may it even be us.
We love you. Thank you for your continual giving. God bless you abundantly.
Your co-laborers in Christ,
Rubén, María Luisa, Lucy, and Iván Serrato
Thank You!!!
This is one of many good reports that we are receiving from the VBS outreaches that Faith Ministries sponsors with your support.
EDITORS NOTE: In the past 5 years, Faith Ministries has sent three pastors to Bacuachi to establish its first protestant church. Each one met severe opposition and left under a hail of fiery darts and discouragement. In Genesis chapter 26, Isaac kept digging wells, just to be run off by jealous, greedy people. In the end, he finally dug and established his own well and called it Rehoboth (meaning: room). By his persistence, God had made room for him. It is time for Bacuachi will have its Rehoboth church. Pray with us to that end.
